Neurofibroma of Breast: A rare case report

Abstract

Neurofibroma are benign tumour of peripheral nerve sheath  that are mostly sporadic.Solitary neurofibromas of breast are uncommon.In this study,a case of 21 year old female was referred with complaint of hyperpigmented lump in Left breast since birth with recent increase in size for 5 months.Ultrasonography revealed a well defined hypoechoic space occupying lesion in subcutaneous plane at 11’o clock position of left breast along with a large ill -defined hypoechoic area with normal vascularity noted extending from 11’o clock to 2’o clock area in left zbreast.Microscopically,the underlying stroma showed proliferating spindle cells with interspersed collagen bundles.Spindle cells show bland serpentine (wavy dark) nuclei and scant cytoplasm.

Nishtha Bassi is a dedicated doctor in the field of Pathology, currently serving as a Senior Resident at King George’s Medical University (KGMU),Lucknow. She completed her M.D. in Pathology from Era University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, where she cultivated a strong foundation in diagnostic pathology and laboratory medicine. Her key research interests include flow cytometry and its application in transfusion medicine and blood banking, with a focus on improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes in hematological disorders.
She has contributed to the scientific community through more than 10 publications in indexed national and international journals, reflecting her commitment to advancing evidence based medicine.
