Title: Gastric cancer with tumour thrombosis

Abstract

One of the extremely rare manifestations of the disease gastric cancer is tumor thrombosis of large venous vessels. according to a scientific group from the National Cancer Center, South Korea, led by Bang Wool Eom the median overall survival of patients diagnosed with gastric cancer with portal vein tumor thrombosis was 5.4 months, and the 5-year overall survival rate was 10%. There is no reliable information in the worldwide literature on the overall survival of this category of patients. There is no single approach to the choice of treatment tactics for patients diagnosed with gastric cancer accompanied by tumor thrombosis. In the few described clinical cases, one of the treatment options is chemotherapy in combination with surgery. Other authors at the first stage suggest radical surgery followed by postoperative chemotherapy. the clinical cases described by the authors demonstrate yours the relevance of а number of issues. How can we namely be staging, treatment options and prognosis. A retrospective study of patients diagnosed with gastric cancer with tumor thrombosis was conducted at National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N.N. Blokhin. Against the background of the analyzed clinical cases, it should be considered advisable to separate the synchronous and metachronous nature of the development of tumor thrombosis. If tumor thrombosis is diagnosed at the stage of detection of the diagnosis of "gastric cancer" and if it is not intrahepatic localization, it is possible to consider a potential surgical intervention. If tumor thrombosis is a progression of the disease after completed treatment or is detected during the treatment of gastric cancer (metachronous), as well as if tumor thrombosis is localized in the hepatic veins, surgical treatment is not advisable, since the tumor process is obviously generalized. The aim of this publication is to draw attention to а rare but common category of patient in oncologists' clinical practice
